Hi everyone, I’m Courtney - Refinery’s SEO Account Director.

What do you love about your job?

I’m passionate about working on websites that are well optimised and put the user first, delivering engaging copy, and excellent technical performance. I’m lucky enough to have worked with clients within a variety of industries, including niche specialisms such as robotics, which means I’m always learning something new and building relationships with people in interesting industries.

Tell us a bit more about you

In my spare time, I love reading novels, cinema, and kayaking. I also love to travel whenever I get the chance.

What were you up to before you joined Refinery?

I’ve been working in digital for over 6 years. I started my journey by studying English at undergraduate and Master’s at the University of York, and wanted to combine my passion for writing content with my interest in the technical side of website development and maintenance. I’ve worked both in-house and for agencies in digital roles, and have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from working with well-known e-commerce brands to project managing an accessible and user-friendly local council website.

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I spent a year living in the Netherlands. I rented a canal-side apartment in Leiden, which was an amazing place to live and a great base to do some travelling around European cities. I’m still learning Dutch in my spare time and love to visit the Netherlands.
