Are you visible where your customers search?

The search landscape has changed. It’s no longer just about being visible on Google. Today your audience is searching across a multitude of platforms like Google, Bing, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest, YouTube, Amazon, and more. The question is: are you visible on the platforms that matter most to your customers?

Brands need to use an holistic approach to organic search marketing for their products and services to be visible and discoverable across platforms. Combining Brand, SEO, Social, and Digital PR strategies will ensure that your brand isn’t only optimised for traditional search engines but is available on a range of platforms. This integrated approach not only drives sustainable organic growth across platforms, but also builds long-term loyal audiences.

For years Google was the undisputed source of information. But the way that audiences find brands, products, answers, and information is diversifying. Today, the same customer might use AI, Google, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit and more for different information needs. Being visible to your target audience therefore depends on how engaging and present you are across these different platforms that interest your customer.

Key Organic Strategies for Brands

Expand the traditional mindset of treating SEO as a channel to optimise only for Google, and regarding social activity as separate to this and instead take a holistic approach of starting with your customer and creating organic content across a spectrum of platforms where your customers are searching.

Key strategies we would recommend include:

  • Multi-platform keyword research - user behaviour can change depending on the platform used. For example, a potential customer on TikTok might be searching hashtags or trending phrases, rather than a more traditional informational search found on Google.

  • Optimising platforms - in the same way that your website needs to be optimised for visibility on Google, your social media platforms need to be optimised for SEO. This is particularly important given that Instagram content is now indexable on Google as of July 2025.

  • Use platform-specific knowledge - traditionally success in SEO has required knowledge of Google’s guidelines and algorithm updates. The same applies to social media platforms. In order to be visible on these platforms, you will need to leverage specific knowledge of the platforms to structure content in a way that gets the most engagement. What works for one platform isn’t necessarily successful on another.

  • Building Community: don’t overlook the positive impact of strong reviews, user-generated content, and active participation across platforms in determining which brands are successful across platforms.

The shift towards customers searching everywhere rather than just on Google is a significant opportunity for growth. Brands need to be willing to adapt their digital strategy to encompass a broad range of search opportunities to connect with their existing and new audiences.
